In this session, participants will explore the neurological impact of crisis on a child's brain, including differences seen in the neurodivergent population. The session will cover strategies to de-escalate situations and ensure safety for students and staff. Participants will also learn proactive approaches to prevent crises and foster a supportive school culture for both staff and students.
Presenter: Maggie McGarvie, Speech-Language Pathologist

Presenter Biography: Maggie McGarvie is a pediatric speech-language pathologist with 16 years experience working in various settings. She has worked in three different states and in schools, private practices, preschools, and early intervention. She has a passion for working with Autistic children and their families to help maximize connection and communication in all environments.
